To Amanda

Hi Amanda,

I used to have clinic phobia too. For a few reasons:

  1. Afraid I might fail clinic
  2. Afraid of doingthe wrong things and getting demerit points
  3. Afraid of getting scolded my clinicians and patients
  4. ETC

You might not believe me but, clinicians don't like to fail students. We also don't keep an eagle eye on each and everyone of you and every one of your move.

It is understandable that everyone wants to do well. However, try not to put too much emphasise on the marks column, rather try to think about suggestions that the clinicians give and try to work it in your next clinic session.

Hope this helps

Have a great week ahead.

Hello there friendlylecturer.
i wish what you'd said is true, but unfortunately...its not.

Since the first week of clinic, i've learnt not to put too much emphasis on my "marks", i've come to terms with my 5, 6 or 7 marks. its really not that bad, its just that i'm not as lucky as some of my fellow classmates who get 8 or 9 at a certain clinic. haha. dont worry, my turn will come.

On some occasions, i get a 6, and i leave feeling happy about it, cos i feel that i've learnt something from the clinician, and i also learn about the areas i'm lacking in, and what i can improve on next time.

However, there are other times when i also get a 6, and not only learnt nothing, but was TOTALLY TRAUMATISED by the whole experience. there are some clinicians/lecturers who are not just strict, but downright nasty! they are biased, they make personal attacks, they seem to be trying their utmost to demoralize us rather than to teach us.

you'd be amazed if you'd heard what has been said and done. but luckily there are still a few good people around.

anyways, dont worry, i'm learning new things everyday. (one of the things is that we should not have a voice, lest some clinician starts accusing us of being defensive or start to pick on us again.)
